Sample Fundraising Letter
Request For A Raffle Prize

This great sample fundraising letter
Will make sure your requests hit the right spot

Below are 2 examples of a sample fundraising letter requesting a raffle prize from a local company.

Prior to sending a letter such as this you should research the target company and try to identify the department and name of the person who deals with these requests.

To find out this information visit the company website or telephone them directly.

Many companies are very generous when it comes to requests for raffle prizes but larger ones in particular do get a lot of fundraising letters and organisations asking for help.

Most companies will also need at least 6 weeks to turn around a request so send you letter in in plenty of time. This is particularly true in the run up to Christmas when every school in the country is after something for their Winter Fundraisers.

Often instead of actual products a company will send vouchers to use in their stores. Companies like this because it is obviously easier and cheaper to post vouchers and it encourages footfall in their shops.

Requests for raffle prizes should always be on headed paper and include your charity registration number. This is to stop fraudulent requests.

If your request is successful do remember to thank the company concerned. Particularly if it is a local business.

Please use either of the sample fundraising letter examples below as a template for your own.

Remember keep it brief and keep it simple.

Request for a Raffle Prize

Dear Ms Black

I am writing to you on behalf of Loverton Junior School. The school PTA are currently planning our Christmas Fundraising Event- The Jinglebell Challenge which takes place on 16th December. This will consist of an afternoon of fun for the children and their families. Previous events have always proved very popular.

Money raised at the event will be used to refurbish our school library which is in a poor state of repair.

We were hoping that Chocs Away might be willing to supply us with a suitable prize for our raffle. Chocs Away gift baskets are always popular but any suitable product you could donate to us would be much appreciated.

If you were able to help please send you donation direct to the school at the address above. If you require any more information please do not hesitate to contact me at the school address or email bob.johnston@connect2u.com

Thank you in advance and best wishes from everyone at Loverton Juniors

Your sincerely

Re Loverton Pantomime - Robin Hood

Dear

Loverton Players is a small group of local residents who are currently rehearsing for our village pantomime.

Our first pantomime ‘Peter Pan’ was performed just after Christmas last year when it played to packed houses and was deemed a great success and a lot of fun. We were also very proud to raise over £600, which was divided between two local charities, St Roche's Hospice and Loverton Friendly Club.

This year’s production is a unique adaptation of Robin Hood and 3 performances, including a matinee, are scheduled for the 7th and 8th January 2012 at Loverton Community Centre. All monies raised will once more be supporting the same local charities.

Although ticket sales make up the greatest part of charity revenue raised we also organise a pantomime raffle. We were hoping that you might be willing to offer a small raffle prize or, if more convenient for yourselves, a small cash donation, which would allow us to purchase a prize to raffle.

We very much welcome support in this way from all types of business. All contributors names will be mentioned and thanked in our programme and other publicity associated with the pantomime.

Should you have any questions associated with this request or our pantomime please do not hesitate to contact me via email or on the number above. We hope that you will be able to support us in this way and we look forward to hearing from you.

With Best Regards

Ralph English
